Click here to see my best blog!
In my opinion, this is the best blog I have done because it has good textual evidence. I believe that I did well at explaining the theme, which is that love overcomes struggle. I feel like this was a good theme because this book shows a lot of love towards Kim and Krickitt. The first quote I showed did a good job of describing the theme because it showed the amount of love that they had for each other. My second quote was a good at describing the theme because everyone was praying and sharing their love towards Krickitt and then her numbers for her blood pressure started getting higher because they were dangerously low. I feel that in my theme and summary post I also did a good job of summarizing the book up to where I have read. Overall I think that this was my best blog post.
Choice One:
Reading goals I have for next trimester is to read at least one book. I have this goal because I don't really like reading and so it's hard for me to finish a book. A goal for writing is to fulfill all of the requirements for blogger and to be on featured blogger Friday! I made this goal because it is important to do all of the blogger requirements and if I get on featured blogger Friday, then that would mean that I am doing really well at writing. Areas of improvement for reading would have to include analyzing the text and understanding it. I need to improve this because sometimes if I don't understand what I'm reading then I will just skip over it and I need to understand it more. Areas of improvement for writing would have to include being better at grammar and spelling, and going more into detail when explaining certain ideas and thoughts.

What do You Think?!
The Vow has had some pretty nerve wracking situations and there are probably more obstacles to come. I have pointed out and said things about what I think will happen, but I want your input! What do you think will happen? Why? What obstacles might come their way? What will happen at the very end of the story? Will Krickitt get completely better? Please comment below you thoughts!
Links and Displays: The Vow
This article talks about the couple that The Vow references. This couple's religion is Christianity and they think that there should have been more reference to their faith. The book has many references to their faith, but according to this article, the movie doesn't and goes against some of the things they believe in.

She's Alive!
Even after the tragic car accident between two trucks, Krickitt is up and walking around! She is still having trouble and struggles to pick up her feet, but she is alive. The doctors didn't think she could even live in the helicopter! She proved them wrong with them help of God by her side and support from her friends and family, and of course to doctors. Things could still go wrong, but I will have to see. The book said she will have to do therapy, but that is no surprise. The book hints that she may have brain damage since she is still have issues picking things up and walking. I can't wait to see what happens next.
Analysis: The Vow
Kim just got a job coaching for the Highlands Cowboys. I know this because Kim tells us in the text with this statement, "...I got my first coaching job with the Highlands Cowboys in Las Vegas, New Mexico, it was a dream come true" (Carpenter, 4). I can infer that a while after the accident, Krickitt can understand, hear, and respond to Kim. I know this because of how this situation is presented," When I spoke she would look at me. 'I love you, Krickitt,' I would say as I looked into her eyes. 'I love you too,' she said..." (Carpenter 67) This quote makes me think Krickitt can understand Kim because she is responding the way a normal person would to their husband. This makes me think she can hear Kim because she responded correctly. Even though the doctors think that its just a natural response, I think it is Krickitt responding to Kim.

Theme & Summary
The theme of The Vow is that love overcomes struggle. "No matter how long we talked, we never wanted to hang up the phone, even when my phone bill rocketed up from almost nothing to $500 a month" (Carpenter 7). This supports my theme statement because Krickitt and Kim love each other, but they live away from each other so they talk to each other a lot even though the phone bill was get expensive. "Dropping to his stomach, he army crawled through the window beside me" (Carpenter 35). This proves my theme because the man showed love towards Kim and help him out of the car when he was in the accident. "Those people called others, who called others, and by the end of the day people as far away as Russia were praying for Krickitt" (Carpenter 60). This supports my theme because other people showed love for Krickitt by praying for her and then her numbers were getting better and closer to normal.
In The Vow so far Kim called Krickitt for help with getting t-shirts. If Krickitt didn't answer they could have never met! They called each other so much that they decided they need to meet in person and so they did and they ended up staying awake all night talking to each other. They got married and after a couple of weeks they got in an awful car accident between two trucks while Krickitt was driving. A man helped Kim out and others tried to help them. They flew Krickitt to a different hospital and left Kim so his dad had to drive him to the same hospital as Krickitt. Kim got better and got to see Krickitt. She responded to him sometimes, but the doctors weren't impressed. They think she's not going to make it. Right now I'm reading at the part were everyone is praying for her and her numbers are getting better.

Exit Slip: The Vow
The mood of my book is loving because Krickitt and Kim are in love and that is how the characters are to each other. When they were in a car accident other prayed for them and they were loving. "Those people called others, who called others, and by the end of the day people as far away as Russia were praying for Krickitt" (Carpenter, 60). This shows that others showed love towards Krickitt. The tone of my book is hopeful. I know this because all the characters are hopeful that Krickitt and Kim make it through this struggle. "Because Krickitt had lived this long already, the doctors were actually beginning to think she might survive after all, despite so much evidence to the contrary" (Carpenter, 59). This says that everyone is hopeful that Krickitt will live. A moment when Kim and Krickitt swayed the belief of the doctors was when they started getting better and the doctors didn't believe it. The doctors thought they were not going to make it. Kim's tone impacted their persuasiveness by being constantly hopeful and praying and saying that she is going to make it.

Characters: The Vow
My character, Kim, has changed through the story so far because he happy and in love and then after the car accident, he is hopeful and still in love. My character shows love towards everyone in some way or action. Some examples from the book include, "I love you too, Krickitt," Kim says this to Krickitt, his wife while she is in the hospital. "I refused to be admitted before I saw my wife." This shows that no matter his condition he wanted to see how Krickitt was doing. These are just some examples of Kim showing love towards other characters. My character keeps the book moving forward by always wondering about Krickitt and how she is doing and it keeps us guessing and lets us see his thoughts about what could be happening. Kim demonstrates my theme, true love can conquer any obstacle, because he loves his wife and he has loved her through thick and thin.
These are pictures of the accident and characters in the book/real life vs. in the movie. The picture to the left is a picture of their car after the accident. The second picture down is of the movie actor and actress beside the characters in the book/real life. The last picture in the left column is a picture of Krickitt in the hospital after the accident, while she has been recovering. I am guessing that in this picture she has been recovering for a while since, in the book it is more descriptive of her condition. Below is a picture of Krickitt, Kim and their two kids. This a them recently and as you can see, it looks as if Krickitt is okay and recovered.

The Vow and God's Miracles
So far in my book, The Vow, Krickett has been in the hospital and she hasn't been doing the best. Actually she is doing awful. The doctors are saying she isn't going to make it and it would be unusually rare that she would recover. Kim got friends and family and even people he didn't know to pray for Krickett and as soon as this happen God answer their prayers and everything started getting better! This is not the only miracle God has done towards Krickett and Kim, it was also a miracle that they even talked to each other on the phone! If Kim would have talked to someone different, they probably wouldn't have met. It just amazes me how good God has been to this wonderful Christian couple!

Book Recommendations
I recommend The Vow to anyone who is looking for a great book to read! It is very good so far and it has me guessing a lot. It has some action and a lot of romance and is a Christian book because it was characters that are Christians in it and it talks about our Lord a lot. The Vow is about two Christian characters that fall in love over the phone. These two characters are named Krickett and Kim. They meet each other in person and decide to get married. After a little while of being husband and wife, the couple gets into a major car crash between two semis. What will happen to them? Will they survive? Well you will have to read The Vow to find out!

Movies and The Vow
I haven't seen the movie for The Vow yet and that is because I want to finish the book first. I feel that it is better to read the book first so you can create your own characters in your mind and then compare it to the characters in the movie. You can also compare from the book on what they cut out from the book when making the movie. I did this with the Hunger Games and the book was really good, but the movie was not as good as the book and they cut out important parts in my opinion. I feel that this is how it normally is when they make a movie based on the book. I haven't read Harry Potter, but people say the books are better because they cut major events out of the book. I have also heard this is the same for a lot of the Nicholas Sparks books.

The Vow
This is the trailer for The Vow. I haven't seen the movie yet since I want to read the book first, but now I really want to see the movie! I am only in the first few chapters where the car crash has happened and Krickett is in the hospital. I will be very disappointed if Krickett dies, but after watching this and seeing pictures in the back of the book gives it away that she lives. I think this trailer really shows what happens without giving away the ending of her either remembering or not. The movie stars Rachel McAdams and Channing Tatum. I am excited to finish the book.
Reading Skills: The Vow
I predict that in The Vow, Krickett will get better and so will Kim because the book is about miracles and Krickett is showing signs of getting better. I am confused on the passenger in the car. Why was he not majorly hurt? What are Krickett's thoughts during this situation? Why is the main conflict in the second chapter? A text to world connection is that this book was based on a true story and there was a car crash and car crashes happen frequently. A text to text connection is The Vow and A Walk To Remember because they both are romantic books that are struck with tragedy. A text to self connection is that in this book there was a car crash with tragedy and in my life we had a friend from church who was very young and died in a car accident. His friend was flown to a hospital by helicopter, but didn't make it also.

The Vow
Right now in The Vow the characters are struggling through a car crash that may result in the death of Krickett. The narrator is Kim so it doesn't say many details about what is happening to Krickett during everything. This paragraph really captures your attention because you want to know what happens in the end. I predict that Krickett gets better over a long period of time, but she still will have some trouble. I think this because the book has pictures of them having kids in the middle of the book and I just read three chapters of the book and there has already been the car crash so what could the rest of the book be about? I also think this because the next chapter name says "A Modern-Day Miracle" and what could be the miracle other than her being alive? I also predict that Kim will get to the hospital and get to see Krickett.
Characters in The Vow
The characters in The Vow are going through a struggle right now, but they are brave, giving, and loving. I believe this is true because Krickitt and Kim are deeply in love and just got married. They are brave because they got into a major car crash between to trucks. Kim was in critical condition, but still he found a way out of the hospital to see Krickitt, who was taken to a differnt hospital. The characters are giving because Kim coaches a baseball team and when they were in the car crash different characters came in to help them out of the car and friends and relatives helped get Kim to the hospital Krickett was in. Right now the characters are struggling through the effects from a major car crash. I really look forward to seeing what these characters become throught the book.

Summer Reading Book
The theme of The Fault in Our Stars is that there is
struggle and trial in love. This has developed in the book because Augustus and
Hazel become more in love whenever they are together and they have many
struggles with cancer. One example of a struggle is Augustus having cancer and
dying towards the end of the book. They met in Support Group one day and then
ever since Augustus is all Hazel could think about. “A boy was staring at me,”
(Green 8). This was the first time Hazel and Augustus met. “Augustus Waters
died eight days after his prefuneral,” (Green 261). This was when Hazel tells
the reader about her biggest struggle yet, Augustus dying. The characters become more mature in my opinion and meet more characters. The character are an important role in the theme and the plot.
